About Us
The Louisiana Funeral Directors Association was formed in 1918 by unlicensed undertakers who met to create a full-fledged profession from a group of tradespeople. These individuals are linked to today's accredited funeral directors by a common desire to serve and to constantly improve the quality of service we provide.
The ideas the association was built upon years ago, that elevated us to respected professionals, are still the basis for our association today. As an association we have become a strong voice on both state and national legislative issues because of our willingness to strive for a higher degree of professionalism.
We are also an association of great awareness toward its members and have made great strides since 1916, but we must also recognize that we are only as strong as the membership we serve. We have built upon the involvement of members who strive to promote an ever-increasing professionalism within the association. Members give of their time, talent and ideas for the continued building of LFDA and its service to the membership.
We are an association of progress which is continually growing and evolving for the benefit of the membership and, most important, for the preservation of our professionalism and integrity to the public. The greatest strength we have in our association is the members and their willingness to be involved. As an association we take a back seat to no other because we remain active and continue to search for and explore new ideas.
